'Halloween' Casting Call Confirms Shooting Start Date And Location

The Halloween sequel-slash-reboot will begin shooting in mid-January out of Charleston, South Carolina, revealed in a casting call uncovered by Omega Underground.

The casting call seeks males and female background extras between ages 15 and 21 to play high school students. Extras of all shapes, sizes, looks and ethnicities are encouraged to apply.

Halloween was slated for a November production launch before being pushed back to its new mid-January start date.

Directed by David Gordon Green (Stronger) and co-written by Alien: Covenant star Danny McBride, the franchise revamp will pick up after the 1978 Halloween.

"We're kind of ignoring all the films past the first one," McBride said, confirming the newest Halloween will erase the last nine movies. "It picks up after the first one, but it's sort of an alternate reality. It's as if the first Halloween ended in a slightly different way."

Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her 1978 role as Laurie Strode. Curtis returned for 1980's Halloween II and 1998's Halloween H20: 20 Years Later before reviving the character again for her death at the hands of her serial killer brother in 2002's Halloween: Resurrection.

Curtis is joined by Judy Greer (Ant-Man) and Andi Matichak (Orange is the New Black). Nick Castle, the first to perform the silent Michael Myers in Halloween, will reprise his role as the infamous murderer.

Original Halloween director and composer John Carpenter is on board to score. Blumhouse, production company behind horror hits Insidious, The Purge, and Get Out, produces the franchise revival for the first time.

Halloween opens October 19.
