Incredibles 2, the most anticipated family film of 2018, won't hit theaters until June but Disney Pixar is celebrating the new year by giving fans a teaser of the upcoming film.
Walt Disney Studios official Twitter shared a short video earlier today offering a literal "toast" to the new year. You can check it out below.
Incredibles 2 is the sequel to Brad Bird's 2004 animated hit and will see not just Bird return as writer and director, but nearly all of the original film's voice talent is coming back as well. Veterans Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sarah Vowell will be joined by Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener for the sequel.
For those unfamiliar, the original Incredibles followed a family of superheroes -- the Parr's -- who are forced to hide their superpowers while living a quiet, suburban life as a result of negative public opinion of superheroes. However, Bob Parr's big heart and desire to help people leads him back into the world of heroes when a mysterious woman named Mirage convinces him to pick up his heroic identity of Mr. Incredible again. This ultimately leads the entire Parr family to suit up to fight the villain, Syndrome. The movie ends with Syndrome defeated -- in a prime example of why Edna Mode insists upon no capes -- but a new villain, the Underminer, rises.
With Incredibles 2 picking up right where the original left off 14 years ago, it was confirmed earlier this year that fans can expect to see the Parrs take on the Underminer right where they left off.
"It starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on," Pixar chief creative officer said at D23 earlier this year. "A minute" will have passed. "It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that's where start this movie."
Incredibles 2 will debut in theaters on June 15, 2018.
