The Strain Season 3 Trailer Released

FX has released the trailer for the third season of The Strain.

"Guillermo [Del Toro] and Carlton [Cuse] have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans' high expectations in the process. We're excited to see them carry this powerful story into a third season on FX," said FX's Eric Schrier back when the show was picked up for its third season.

Created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their novel trilogy of the same name. Carlton Cuse serves as executive producer and showrunner.

Comic books based on The Strain have been released through Dark Horse Comics for years, with a new volume just getting started. The Strain, a 2009 vampire horror novel by del Toro and Hogan, was originally imagined as a TV series and only went to the printed page when del Toro couldn't find a buyer for the work. With three bestsellers under his belt, del Toro was able to sell it to FX three years ago.

A plane lands at John F. Kennedy International Airport with the lights off and doors sealed. Epidemiologist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his team are sent to investigate. On board they find 206 corpses and four survivors. The situation deteriorates when all the bodies disappear from the morgue. Goodweather and a small group of helpers find themselves battling to protect not only their own loved ones, but the entire city, from an ancient threat to humanity.

The new season of The Strain is coming on August 28 to FX.
