Ewan McGregor has built himself quite the resume, but regardless of how long its been since his last portrayal of Star Wars legend Obi-Wan Kenobi, fans always want to know if he will someday be returning to the franchise.

McGregor is currently promoting his directorial debut American Pastoral in France, but it didn't take long for the subject to switch to the galaxy far far away (via DenOfGeek). McGregor made sure to point out that there were currently no plans in place for an Obi-Wan spinoff, but he did mention that there is plenty of material to work with if it did happen.

"I've always thought there was a story to tell between my last one and Alec Guinness' first one. It would be fun to film that story now I'm older," McGregor explained, "I'd be the right age. I'm forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them (laughs)!"

The studio could even turn the project into a two-parter if they so desired. "I hope that they're going to explore different genres under the Star Wars banner. And one of those could be an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film. Or two! The Obi-Wan Kenobi Story Part 1 and Part 2!"

While he wouldn't be opposed to portraying the character once again, even an older version, he does tire of talking about what if's, as according to him "it seems as though I'm begging for work!"
