The latest Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, promises to be one of the biggest spectacles in the entire series, thanks to the many advancements of special effects. More than just special effects techniques, the entire process of making a movie has changed drastically over the last few decades, and along with it, editing techniques to draw in an audience. The folks over at Screen Crush wanted to give Star Wars fans a blast from the past by editing the Last Jedi trailer to look more similar to the original films' trailers.
The above trailer might not be the appropriate editing for the tone of The Last Jedi, but the similarities to the original films' marketing are quite accurate and you can't help but be reminded of the first time you saw those trailers.
Although the re-edited trailer above might feel nostalgic, the recent news in the world of The Last Jedi is that it promises to reveal the most shocking revelation in the franchise's history.
A promotional leaflet was recently distributed in Japan that was translated to reveal some surprising information.
The leaflet promises:
“The Most Shocking Truth In Star Wars History Will Soon Be Revealed!
A new generation’s tale of the struggles of light and dark, virtue and evil has begun with the death of Han Solo. In a Galaxy where First Order and the Resistance are fighting against each other in a war, the heroine, Rey, had the Force awaken within her.
What will happen to the galaxy when Rey and the only remaining Jedi knight, Luke Skywalker, meet? Kylo Ren has fallen to the Dark Side of the Force and killed his father, Han Solo. As a successor of his grandfather, Darth Vader, and a high ranking enforcer in the First Order, where will his ambition lead him to?
Furthermore, Kylo Ren’s mother, the leader of the Resistance, Leia, Poe, Finn, and BB-8, will embark on a new mission! The story has finally begun and it will lead to a mysterious climax!
December 15. Be ready for the shocking truth surpassing the previous stories!”
Considering the reveal of Darth Vader as Luke Skywalker's father might be one of the biggest surprises in the history of cinema, The Last Jedi has quite the task ahead of it if it hopes to be more shocking than that.
Could we learn who Rey's parents are? Will we learn devastating information about Luke Skywalker? We'll have to wait until December 15 to find out!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017, release.
