Later this year, Star Wars fans will finally be reunited with Lucasfilm’s take on the Skywalker Saga. Following the release of Rogue One, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters in December and pick back up with heroes like Rey. The film will reintroduce fans to the heroine as she finally meets Luke Skywalker on the isolated planet Ahch-To. So far, details about the Jedi’s part in the new film has been kept under-wraps, but rumors are now starting to pop up about Skywalker’s storyline. And, according to one vetted fan-site, it looks like Luke might be going up against Snoke himself in The Last Jedi.
So, warning! Possible spoilers lie below!
Over on Making Star Wars, editor-in-chief Jason Ward has published a slew of details which his sources have shared with him. Out of the new reports, one tidbit has got fans buzzing. According to Ward, he has heard a persistent rumor about a scene which happens near the film’s end.
“Luke is going for Snoke and Rey is going for Kylo,” Ward revealed. “I asked the person that believes this to be true if they have an encounter in the film and they didn’t know for sure. It makes me wonder if we leave off the circumstances of the film with Luke going to embrace that he’s a Jedi again and he’s intent on bringing Snoke and the First Order down?”
Of course, this isn’t the first rumor which speculates about a Snoke showdown. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that General Leia might face-off against Snoke after being captured by Captain Phasma. None of these alleged climaxes have been commented on by Lucasfilm, so fans can only wait until the film premieres for an answer to go public.
Making Star Wars also reported on a few other rumors regarding Lucasfilm’s next venture. The editor-in-chief writes that Luke has a special compass which he uses throughout the movie to navigate Ahch-To. The compass is said to be beautifully crafted, and Ward says he’s heard that the prop is important to Luke’s journey in the current trilogy. The insider also heard that Luke will carry some interesting gear on the island such as a rustic backpack and a cattle prod-tyle weapon which he uses for defense and walking.
