After Mark Hamill strongly suggested a fan watched the October 9 Monday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Viking in response to a comment about the next trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the actor quickly deleted the tweet.
And though he's tried to cover his tracks and pass it off as part of his eccentric sense of humor, it has since been confirmed by Star Wars News Network that the trailer is indeed coming in two weeks during the NFL game.
Hamill caused an uproar when a fan told him last week was a good time to release the new trailer, and he replied with a tweet saying, "Watch Monday Night Football on Monday October 9th - for no reason in particular."
Though he deleted it, the tweet had already spread and fans were then asking him the reason why it was taken off, speculating he received a stern call from Lucasfilm. Hamill attempted to play it cool, claiming no one got his joke.

But after reaching out to their source, SWNN has since confirmed the new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will indeed debut during the football game between the Vikings and Bears.
There is a precedent for premiering Star Wars trailers during Monday Night Football. Star Wars: The Force Awakens' second trailer also debuted during the telecast.
Given that Lucasfilm and ESPN are both owned by Disney and that the NFL game is one of the highest rated programs, it makes sense that the company would take advantage of the amount of eyeballs on the game and attempt to put even more on it.
Plus, the company could use the distraction after the controversy surrounding many football player's protests of systematic violence against persons of color and the mixed reactions it has received from fans including the President of the United States.
What could be more unifying than a story about space wars and good versus evil advertised during a game where players brutalize each other for 60 minutes straight?
Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters December 15.
