Everyone knows that Porgs are the true breakout characters of the new Star Wars trilogy, and while they might be little more than wookie food in the upcoming movie, their mark on the canon is indelible.
The fans over at Volpe Music are feeling the Porg love, and decided to commemorate their debut in Star Wars: The Last Jedi by sampling their soundbites from various merchandise items to recreate the Star Wars theme.
Check out the clip above to hear Porgs sing the Star Wars suite, because if you don’t you’re a heartless monster who will be eaten by the crystal coyotes of Crait.
The inclusion of Porgs in Star Wars: The Last Jedi occurred after director Rian Johnson was inspired after visiting the location of Skellig Michael, where the final shot of The Force Awakens was filmed. The island was littered with puffins, and the director decided to include a variation of the animals in the film.
Since fans got their first look at the creatures in the behind-the-scenes reel released at D23, Porg obsession has been on the rise. The hype levels nearly hit a fever pitch when Force Friday II hit, revealing a wave of Porg-centric merchandise for fans.
But then the recent trailer hit, showing a quick scene with Chewbacca and a Porg in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and, well, the excitement exploded.
Fans might want to brace themselves, however, as Porgs might be in for a cruel fate on the sacred Jedi planet of Ahch-To.
Luke Skywalker isn’t the only resident of the Force-sensitive area, as we’ve previously heard of the Caretakers who also inhabit the land. And other promotional items hint that the Caretakers tend to dine on the Porgs, luring them near with strange, bagpipe-like instruments before capturing with nets.
A quick shot from the behind-the-scenes featurette also hints that Chewbacca may even get in on the action.
If it’s true, fans still have a couple of months before the horrifying truth is confirmed. For now, just partake in the Porg obsession and pretend everything will be alright.
