Star Wars: Fans Left Coca-Cola Bottles at Lucasfilm to Honor Carrie Fisher

In the 40 years since debuting as Princess Leia in Star Wars, fans have felt a deep connection with actress Carrie Fisher, even if they never even met her. Earlier this week marked the anniversary of her sudden passing last year, with the internet being flooded with tributes to the actress. Some fans went even further in sharing their admiration for the icon, leaving a note and two bottles of Coca-Cola at Lucasfilm's iconic Yoda Fountain in San Francisco, California.

A Lucasfilm publicist shared the image of the tribute, saying, "Stopped by the office this morning and someone left a nice little tribute to Carrie @ the Yoda fountain."

A fan replied to the photo with their own photo of the tribute, which shows a better glimpse of the note that accompanied the candles and soda.

Fans familiar with the actress knew that Fisher had an affinity for this specific beverage, which her father Eddie Fisher was a representative for in the '50s.

During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show last November, the host pointed out that the beverage was in Fisher's coffee mug, as opposed to most guests' choices of coffee, tea or water. The actress claimed she opened "maybe 16" Coca-Cola beverages every day.

"But I don't drink all of them. I start them, but then it starts to get warm. And then you have to get another one ... They have to (have) that sharp, sharp cold taste," Fisher clarified.

Despite her love of the beverage, Fisher had to change her intake when she began preparing to portray Leia for The Force Awakens.

"They like to hire part of me," she said. "So I have to get rid of the part they don't want. So when I'm hired for Star Wars, every time, they have hired about three quarters of the size that I am."

The impromptu tribute to the actress was only one of many ways people honored Fisher, with her friends and family sharing their admiration on social media.

Mark Hamill shared a variety of photos of the actress and included the message, "No one's ever really gone...#AlwaysWithUs #CarrieOnForever." The Last Jedi co-star Laura Dern also shared photos and added the caption, "To a goddess, an icon, and a truth-teller. The deepest kind of inspiration. Thinking today of the privilege of knowing you."

Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd traveled to Norway to see the Northern Lights, something she always wanted to do with her mom but never got the chance to experience. She shared a photo of the sight and included the caption, "She drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra."

Even Fisher's dog, who appeared with her during interviews for The Force Awakens, shared a photo of the two with the caption, "We miss you more than ever."

Fans can see Fisher's final performance in The Last Jedi, in theaters now.
