Fear the Walking Dead might be rattling the Dead universe.
The AMC series kicked off its third season by introducing Troy Otto, a character bent on experimenting on the infected. Not far from his experiments, one of the soldiers on the military base was ripped through a wall by a zombie -- his spine was shatter and his head ripped off in the process. It was a walker unlike anything fans of the Dead shows have ever seen before.
When ComicBook.com asked Troy actor Daniel Sharman if his character had created a mutant zombie, the actor denied it in this case but did not rule out the possibility down the line.
"It's not, but I like where your heads at," Sharman said. "I've always been quite fascinated by the idea that at some point they change, and I think Troy is fascinated by every little minutiae of what causes this and wants to know why and wants to know how. So there's a point in it where he, later in the season, where he has documented and taken this down. He hasn't been able to create anything yet, but you never know. You never know."
Now, the trailer seen at the top of the page is teasing another special breed of walker. A large, intimidating, and stronger-than-most walker is seen approaching an unfortunate victim and manages to take a few hits without going down. This is a trait unlike any other zombie introduced in Dead universe. While the walkers on The Walking Dead's recent seasons are weaker because they have deteriorated through the years, the walkers seen in the earliest episodes were unable to withstand such attacks and certainly were not as strong as the walker on Fear's military base in the Season 3 premiere.
Whether or not this particular walker turns out to be anything noteworthy will be seen on Sunday night when Fear the Walking Dead airs the fourth episode of its third season. The episode will tell the story of Daniel's journey from the Abigail estate to the dam which Dante is ruling with an iron fist.
