Disney's Academy Award-winning film Big Hero 6 is making its come back as a TV series, and that series will ironically lead off with another movie - a one-hour special that will be titled "Baymax Returns."
It's a pretty self-explanatory title: the special will re-introduce fans to lovable robot Baymax, his charge/friend Hiro, and the rest of the team, which includes GoGo, Wasabi, Honey, and of course, Fred.
The premise of the special will be Hiro discovering a chip for Baymax's creation that was left behind by his late brother Tadashi, which inspires Hiro to bring recreate Baymax, after thinking his companion was gone forever. Of course, the task isn't as easy or straightforward as it initially seems, and the Big Hero 6 team quickly find themselves in trouble.
"Baymax Returns" will air on Disney XD and Disney Channel on Monday, November 20 at 8pm, as well as being available on the DisneyNOW app and Disney XD VOD. Following the movie's run, fans can also find two preview episodes of the series available exclusively on the DisneyNOW app and Disney XD VOD, to hold them over until the series actually premieres in 2018. Starting on Friday, November 24th, there will also be six preview shorts released weekly on DisneyNOW, Disney XD and Disney XD YouTube, leading into the full premiere next year.
Most of the original Big Hero 6 voice cast is returning for the series, with the exception of Damon Wayans Jr. as Wasabi (Walking Dead's Khary Payton is replacing him), and T.J. Miller as Fred (SNL's Brooks Wheelan is replacing him).
Catch Big Hero 6 "Baymax Returns" on November 20th @ 8pm.
