Trick 'r Treat director Michael Dougherty recently talked to IGN about his Christmas horror movie, Krampus, but the conversation swerved to the, hopefully, inevitable Trick 'r Treat sequel. Dougherty explains that it is coming, just not soon.
"It's going to happen," he says. "The tricky thing is that as we were announcing Trick 'r Treat 2, I was just finishing the screenplay for Krampus with my co-writers and it was just too tempting to not do Krampus. If we didn't do it, somebody else was going to." Dougherty mentioned that there are several Krampus projects already in the works and wanted to get a jump on this before the trend peaked.
He does mention that just because Krampus took priority that Trick 'r Treat 2 hasn't been "simmering". "I want to get it right. I don't want to rush it." You can check out the full clip below.
In recent years, Trick 'r Treat has been a modern Halloween classic with the pumpkinesque posterchild, Sam, becoming a horror icon.
