Today is actor Frank Grillo’s birthday.
Most will recognize Grillo as Captain America’s adversary, Crossbones, from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Though Grillo only appeared as Crossbones’ alter ego Brock Rumlow in the movie, this year he became the full-fledged supervillain that film's sequel, Captain America: Civil War.
"Winter Soldier let off and I was in bad shape," says Grillo. "I was just about to kill the Falcon - which is not hard. I think revenge is a big part of... Whatever Rumlow was feeling as far as being torn between which side he should be on, which I think he was, is gone now. I think he's out for one thing and one thing only and that's to revenge what's happened to him."
Did he get it? Well, let's just say that as a result of his attempts, there's one less character appearing in the next sequel.
Grillo’s other notable films include Warrior, The Grey, The Purge: Anarchy, Zero Dark Thirty, and Minority Report. You can see him next in The Purge: Election Year, which still has a more believable plot thread and a more heartwarming premise than the actual U.S. Presidential elections.
Born in New York City, Grillo turns 51 today. Happy Birthday, Frank Grillo.
