Captain America: Civil War spoilers follow!
It's the biggest scene, maybe in comic book movie history. In this corner: Team Cap, with Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man by his side. In this corner: Team Iron Man, with War Machine, Vision, Black Widow, Black Panther, and Spider-Man ready to throw down.
But there could've been two more characters in the fray.
"There was one not very good draft where Hank Pym shows up," writer Christopher Markus told Mashable. His co-writer Stephen McFeely actually hadn't remembered it. "I forgot about that. We won't speculate on what Hank Pym did, but he wasn't as helpful as he needed to be," he added.
Evangeline Lilly will co-star in the Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, but was almost in the Civil War throwdown too. They didn't want to steal the scene from her own movie, ultimately.
Those characters were only in very early drafts of the script, so early, that even Ant-Man hadn't been shot yet, let alone come out. Lilly will debut her superheroic persona in July 2018. Captain America: Civil War is in theaters now.
