Watch: Guardians Of The Galaxy's Chris Pratt Tries On Star-Lord Mask For First Time In Throwback Video

Marvel Studios will be debuting the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy next year, but director James Gunn is still stuck on the first film. The filmmaker just shared a behind-the-scenes video from Guardians of the Galaxy, and it shows Chris Pratt as he tries on the Star-Lord mask for the first time.

The short clip shows Gunn laughing at Pratt as he gets used to the hi-tech face mask. The director looks somewhat taken back by the actor's appearance, likely stunned to see Pratt wearing the character's full costume. A slew of costume designs and prop masters can be seen circling Pratt as they adjust his costume, leaving the actor to stand amongst them bewildered.

It's definitely interesting to see the actor wearing the actual face mask. The headgear was clearly touched up in post-production with CG effects, but the real-life prop looks stunningly similar to what fans saw on-screen.

However, the video does reveal that a lot of time and workers went into making sure the mask looked spot on. Costume designer Alexandra Byrnes was the woman behind the creation, and she said the hero's costume was difficult to suit up in. Take Star-Lord's gun holsters for example.

"That involved a prop department making the holsters, the holsters attaching to the trousers, how the trousers behaved when he bent down," she explained. "So we couldn't really design the sides of the trousers until the guns were designed, to know how big [the guns] were going to be. Sometimes it's a long process and a lot of communication to get just a small element of costume to work."

Fans will see Star-Lord return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 next May before the hero returns in Avengers: Infinity War where he's rumored to have a "sizable" role.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).

Guardian's of the Galaxy Vol. 2 releases on May 5, 2017. Thor: Ragnarok will follow on November 3, 2017. The Avengers: Infinity War movies recently began production in Atlanta and are set for release in 2018 and 2019.
