Disney Being Sued by Singer Who Claims 'Let It Go' Ripped off His Song

One international singer believes that Disney ripped off one of his songs to create a smash hit, and he just can't let it go.

According to TMZ, Jaime Ciero is suing everyone involved in the making of Frozen's "Let It Go," claiming the hit song was inspired by his 2008 work, "Volar." Instead of just targeting The Walt Disney Company, the lawsuit is also going after Idina Menzel who sang the song in the film, and Demi Lovato, who recorded the radio single.

In the lawuit, Ciero claims that he recorded "Volar" years before Frozen was written. The artist calls his song "a huge international success reaching millions of listeners and landing on numerous charts of the most popular, top-performing songs."

When you listen to "Volar," which you can do in the video above, you may notice a couple of similarities between the songs. Although it's recorded in Spanish, Ciero says that "Let It Go" has similar note combinations, hooks, melodies, lyrics, theme and more that resemble his piece.

Ciero is suing Disney and the recording artists for profits from the movie which, as we all know, is a lot of money. Between the box office success, album sales and merchandise, Frozen was nothing short of an enormous success.
