Guardians of the Galaxy: Melissa Stetten's "Audition Tape" For Gamora

Melissa Stetten -- columnist, model and girlfriend to Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn -- has produced a humorous audition tape for the film, where she says she'd like to try out as Gamora but that Gunn won't let her. Gamora is, for all intents and purposes, set to be the female lead in Guardians of the Galaxy. While almost all of the casting news so far has revolved around Peter Quill/Star-Lord, the human point-of-view character and entry point for the audience, this is the first we've heard of anyone speculating about the casting for Gamora, except our own interview with Paget Brewster. (Brewster, who starred in Gunn's The Specials, joked about e-mailing the director for the job.) "My boyfriend James Gunn is writing/directing the Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy and I want to audition for Gamora but he won't let me. I made my own audition tape," she explains on YouTube, along with the video embedded below. For those (like one of the commenters on the YouTube video) who wondered whether the character's death at the end of the audition video means something for the film, Stetten is quick to discount it: "I have no idea I've never read the comics or even know what the movie is about," she answered. Gunn will helm Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel's first non-sequel since The Avengers, for a summer 2014 release. The film will feature Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Drax the Destroyer. It's also been rumored to involve Nova and Iron Man, who will play key roles in the upcoming comic book version of the team.
