Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is on track to make $68-70 million when it opens on August 1, Deadline reports.

In an article examining the depressed summer box office, the entertainment trade site suggests that Guardians, if it is as good as people are hoping, may be the first movie of the summer to win the box office four weekends in a row.

A $68 million opening would make it the fourth-lowest outing by any Marvel movie -- ahead of just ThorCaptain America: The First Avenger and The Incredible Hulk -- but the second-best non-sequel (only Iron Man and The Avengers did better, with The Avengers being, more or less, a sequel to all the previous movies to that point.

The film has a 99% "want to see" score on Rotten Tomatoes and so far has enjoyed fantastic word of mouth from fans and reviewers who have seen early screenings.
