If you think Josh Trank's upcoming Fantastic Four reboot is controversial, then you've never seen Roger Corman's live-action abomination from the nineties. Corman's poorly-produced (and to be fair, under-budgeted) Fantastic Four film, which became the scourge of Marvel fans everywhere, made Howard The Duck look like The Avengers.

But still, the film exists within the annals of Marvel lore, making a home-made trailer based on the movie ripe fruit with Fantastic Four right around the corner. Thanks to the people at Vulture, that's just what we have. With the audio track from Trank's Fantastic Four edited over Corman's Fantastic Four footage, the experiment is as grim 'n gritty as it is whimsical. And with nineties-era VHS tape effects thrown in for good effect, we have a Fantastic Four trailer straight from the Phantom Zone.

You can watch it below.

What do you think of the Corman/Trank mashup? Let us know in the comments below.

Fantastic Four opens on August 7. And to see when Fantastic Four 2 hits theaters (yeah, it's already scheduled), head to ComicBook.com's Comic Book Movie Database.
