After Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel, the summer isn't over for comic book fans. In July, 20th Century Fox will be releasing The Wolverine, based on the popular X-Men character from Marvel Comics. The Wolverine director James Mangold has just released several behind the scenes photos for The Wolverine via his Twitter account. The first behind the scenes photo (shown above) from The Wolverine shows James Mangold directing a Kendo sequence at the Yashida Compound. The second behind the scenes photo (shown below) from The Wolverine shows James Mangold working with the great Hal Yamanouchi who plays the ailing Yashida. Yashida is laying on a "pin bed," which was designed by Mangold and Francois Audouy. The third behind the scenes photo (shown below) from The Wolverine shows James Mangold doing some post-production work. According to Mangold, he begins recording the score and mixing the film this week. Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before. The Wolverine is scheduled to be released in movie theaters in the United States on July 26, 2013.
