While earlier this week reports surfaced that the first trailer for The Wolverine would premiere before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14, it turns out that those rumors were false. The source for the information that The Wolverine will not air in front of The Hobbit is pretty solid, because it's actually James Mangold, the director of The Wolverine. Through his official Twitter account, Mangold tweeted  this morning, "Contrary to reports, there will be no trailer on THE HOBBIT for THE WOLVERINE. You will get a glimpse early 2013. I promise." So that clears that rumor up. Mangold didn't stop with just clarifying trailer release information. Mangold also tweeted, "One day of production left on THE WOLVERINE! Best crew I ever worked with. Thank you. I will miss everyone." As far as what trailers will air in front of The Hobbit, Man of Steel has been rumored by several websites, and since it's a Warner Bros. film, it's probably a pretty good bet to be true. There have also been conflicting reports over if a Star Trek Into Darkness trailer would air in front of The Hobbit. It has been confirmed that the first 9 minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness will air in front of IMAX 3D showings of The Hobbit, so it would make sense that a trailer could air in front of regular showings of The Hobbit.
