Watch The Oscars 2016 Year In Film Supercut Featuring Star Wars and More

Star Wars: The Force Awakens had a mixed night at the Oscars. The film didn't win any awards, having been nominated in five categories, and losing out to Mad Max: Fury Road, Hateful Eight, and the surprising Ex Machina.

However, the highest-grossing film in domestic history was well-represented at the show, with introductions/presentations by lead actress Daisy Ridley, portrayer of the enigmatic leader Snoke, Andy Serkis, director J.J. Abrams, and of course, those lovable droids, BB-8, R2-D2, and C-3PO taking their moment. The film was also featured in "The Year in Film," a featurette that opened the show.

Of course, that featurette also showed Daddy's Home, so it's not that much of an honor for Star Wars.

The Star Wars series overall is still one of the most successful franchises at the Academy Awards, with seven wins and twenty-seven nominations over the last thirty-nine years. It also holds three special achievement awards. With another Star Wars movie planned every year for the forseeable future, they'll have plenty more opportunities.
