Star Wars: New Rogue One TV Spot Released

We're just over than a month away from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the stakes have never been higher. A new TV spot shows Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso appealing Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) for help as a montage of clips shows her team in action. There's also several brief glimpses of X-Wings providing air support as Jyn and her team battle AT-ATs on the ground.

There's not a lot of new footage in the new commercial, but it does a good job showing just how desperate and dangerous Jyn's mission is. The clip also gives off a reconciliatory tone, as both Jyn and Gerrera are looking to redeem themselves for past crimes and mistakes.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of a planned series of "standalone" Star Wars stories, meant to flesh out the world of the popular Star Wars franchise outside of the ongoing core films. Rogue One will focus on how the Rebel Alliance gathered intel on the first Death Star and is set shortly before "Episode IV" AKA the first Star Wars film.

The movie stars Jones as Jyn Erso, a former criminal conscripted by the Rebels as her father is one of the key scientists working on the massive space station. Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed play Rebels joining Jyn on her mission, while Ben Mendelsohn plays the Imperial officer overseeing the construction of the Death Star. Mads Mikkelsen will also appear in Rogue One as Jyn's father.

James Earl Jones, Jimmy Smits, and Genevieve O'Reilly will reprise their Star Wars roles as the voice of Darth Vader, Bail Organa, and Mon Mothma.
