If you grew up at just the right time, you probably remember the 8-bit glory of the Friday the 13th video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

It was such a favorite in its time that recently, NECA made a Friday the 13th 8-bit action figure with a collectible case that looked like the old NES box.

Well, Jason Voorhees will apparently be coming back to a (presumably much better-looking) video game soon, EGM reports.

The new game, tentatively titled Friday the 13th, is in development and aiming for an October 2015 release. The game's universe will reference elements from the classic film franchiseas well as the upcoming Friday the 13th television series.

"With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form," explains Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the original film.  "We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."
