The Walking Dead's upcoming spinoff series, Fear The Walking Dead, has held onto its secrets as tightly as Michonne and her katana. So much so, that the exact premiere--sometime this August--is still anybody's guess.

However, some small bits of news have managed to slip through the cracks. Taking all the information that the show's creator's have divulged thus far, we've rounded up everything we know about Fear The Walking Dead.

Where

This time, we'll see some zombie drama under the sunny skies of Los Angeles.

Not only is Fear taking place on the opposite side of the country from The Walking Dead's Georgia and Alexandria, Virginia locales, it's location also has almost nothing in common with those areas. The city of Los Angeles has an immensely larger population than the town of Georgia where Rick Grimes resided prior to the apocalypse. With the exception of a few visits to Atlanta, The Walking Dead rarely explored a densely packed and urban area. Los Angeles will likely provide a greater zombie threat than small towns in Georgia.

The show's writer/creator Robert Kirkman has said that the series will stay out of the woods unlike The Walking Dead which is constantly in Georgia backwoods.

When

Fear will begin during the point in time where Rick Grimes is in a coma. The show will pick up in the "early days" of the outbreak, and based on the photos that recently surfaced, the show will either feature flashbacks to pre-apocalyptic days, open just as the first zombie bites break skin.

According to the writer and creator, Robert Kirkman, Fear will start with a story explaining the anxiety and anticipation leading up to the outbreak, but will eventually get to a point where it runs concurrently to The Walking Dead.

Kirkman recently stated the characters of Fear The Walking Dead will learn they are infected in a "much different way," than Rick and the group did.

Who

Fear The Walking Dead will introduce all-new characters to The Walking Dead's television universe. None of the show's characters have appeared on The Walking Dead television series or in the comic books, nor is a crossover planned (for now).

Here's a quick breakdown of the confirmed cast and characters:

  • Travis (Cliff Curtis) - A high school teacher and divorced father dating Madison
  • Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) - Son of Travis and Liza who is angry with his father for divorcing his mother
  • Madison (Kim Dickens) - High school teacher and widow raising two kids, dating Travis
  • Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) - Daughter or Madison, high school standout student
  • Nick (Frank Dillane) - Son of Madison, college drop out
  • Liza (Elizabeth Rodrigues) - Travis' ex-wife
  • Daniel (Ruben Blades) - Ofelia's father
  • Ofelia (Mercedes Anderson) - Daniel's daughter

Colman Domingo of Selma, 42, and The Butler has been cast as a recurring character, but the character's name is unknown.

As far as relationships between the characters, Kirkman has revealed a little insight in that area, as well.

Travis and Madison are a happy, faithful couple--something we don't see often on television. They're a team. Travis' character will have some darkness in his past, but ultimately serves as Madison's stability. Since losing her husband, Madison has learned to adapt to tragedy. This, paired with the skills she's developed as a schoolteacher, makes a formidable asset in the zombie apocalypse. But, she still has a bit of heart to her.

Madison's children, Chris and Alicia, won't see eye to eye. They're obviously very different people, as Alicia is an honorable student and Nick is a college drop-out. While Nick thinks Alicia's life is completely problem free, this isn't actually the case. But as he-- and the audience--will discover, details on Alicia's troubles will emerge while the story plays out.

There are plenty of rumors about other casting or characters, but those go unconfirmed from the crew and creators.

Fear The Walking Dead premieres this August on AMC. Are you ready to see how all the zombies began? Let us know in the comments.
