In a new interview with USA Today, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have released new details about their forthcoming DC Super Hero Girls line of entertainment and products, including some comments about what's in store at next week's New York Comic Con.

The line -- which will feature a number of female heroes, but also includes male characters existing in supporting roles -- is designed to appeal to girls aged 6-12, not traditionally a particualrly well-served demographic in superherodom.

Per the article, the brand will include toys, books, graphic novels, digital content, apparel and animation, with an animated short created to introduce the line (embedded below).

Big Barda joins Batgirl, Bumblebee, Supergirl, Miss Martian, Cheetah, Vixen, Wonder Woman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Katana in what DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns calls one of the most important things he's been involved with at the company.

"It's fun for all of us to be involved in something that's going to play into the girl-power aspect of what kids and parents are looking for," says Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment and president/chief content officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Look for much more from this coming out of New York next week.
