During a question and answer panel in Bartle Hall at Planet Comicon, Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Sly James declared May 21, 2016 to be Stan Lee Day in the city, recognizing the legendary creator of superheroes like the X-Men, Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Hulk, and others for his "achievement and dedication to the literary arts."

"This day is a fraud," Lee joked when taking the stage, according to The Kansas City Star. "The schools will be open tomorrow." Realizing that the next day was a Sunday, Lee corrected himself, adding, "Don't take notes because none of this is right."

Lee did get a little more serious though, turning his attention to the ongoing presidential election, even after being told by someone in his entourage that he can't answer the question.

"It's different than any that I can remember" the 93-year-old creator says. "There is more color to it because of Trump - he's a very unusual guy – and there's a lot of bitterness also. I'm not sure that it's good for the country to have that much bitterness in a presidential election, but I'm just waiting to see how it comes out, the way everybody else is."

Lee handled several other questions, dodging an opportunity to choose a favorite among all of his creations by saying, "I'm my biggest fan…They're all my favorites." He also revealed that "greed" was his inspiration for creating Spider-Man ("I wanted to keep my job."), and said that "luck" would be the greatest superpower to have ("If you were lucky all the time, nothing bad would happen to you.").

Stan Lee is on something of a farewell tour through the convention circuit this year. He's set his final Canadian appearance for Fan Expo Canada this September, and announced that New York Comic Con 2016 will be his final appearance at the event.
