A new update for Pokken Tournament suggests new characters are on the way. Earlier this week, Nintendo released their 1.3 update for the popular Pokemon fighting game, which came out earlier this year. A redditor named /u/BananaMuffinFrenzy sifted through the update and noticed some unusual file names that could correspond to an upcoming DLC release. According to the Redditor, Scizor, Darkrai and Empoleon are all possible additions to Pokken Tournament, although it's unclear whether they'll appear as primary fighters or Support Pokemon.

Scizor is the evolved form of Scyther, a Steel/Bug type with powerful clamp-like claws and a Mega Evolved form. Darkrai is a powerful mythical Pokemon who can induce permanent sleep and eat dreams. Finally, Empoleon is the final evolution of Piplup, one of the Sinnoh starters from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. We previously named Empoleon as one of the five characters we wanted to see appear in Pokken Tournament as he has a more defensive moveset and there's a lack of Water Pokemon in the game.

Of course, this is all speculation and neither Bandai Temco or Nintendo have given any hint that DLC will be included in the game. One of the main complaints about Pokken Tournament was the small roster size, so a few new characters could reignite interest in the game as it heads into the competitive season.
