More Women Play Pokemon Go Than Men

Recent data indicates nearly twice as many women play Pokemon Go than men. According to the online survey company SurveyMonkey, 63% of all Pokemon Go players are women. Pokemon Go players are also young and rich, with an average age of 25 and an average annual income of $90,000 per year. SurveyMonkey's data also indicates that 67% of the game's players are 30 years old or younger, with 90% of players living in an urban area. That matches up with complaints that Pokemon Go isn't friendly to rural players, who often have to travel miles to find a PokeStop

It's noted that SurveyMonkey's data is based on US users and was derived from a panel of 1 million people who allow the company to monitor their mobile usage. The survey company did not release how many of those one million panel members actually play Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go developer Niantic Labs doesn't track user demographics, so the company couldn't corroborate SurveyMonkey's findings. If the survey results are accurate, it represents a drastic departure from Niantic's other game Ingress, whose players tend to be older and male.

Although Pokemon Go's user base might have peaked in the US (at least according to SurveyMonkey), Niantic still has big plans for the game. After finishing the game's worldwide release, the company plans to add new features like trading, PokeStop customization, and new Pokemon into the game.
