On Thursday, The CW surprised the comics internet with a first look at Tyler Hoechnlin's Superman costume as it will appear in upcoming episodes of Supergirl on the network.

Yesterday, it became clear that they chose the timing because they simply couldn't wait anymore without the surprise being spoiled; while doing exterior filming in Vancouver, Hoechlin was spotted and photographed by fans and paparazzi a number of times.

Since it was revealed, fans online have debated how the costume looks, whether Hoechlin was the right casting choice, and all the usual things. There was even a surprising amount of conversation about the actor's posterior.

My favorite reaction, though, was that of Eisner-nominated artist Ibrahim Moustafa, one of the artists who drew DC's The Flash: Season Zero, which took place between the end of the show's pilot and the start of its next episode.

Moustafa took a run at actually drawing the Superman costume as it might appear -- presumably in the The Adventures of Supergirl comic that DC publishes as a companion to the show.

You can see the results below.

Hoechlin will appear as Clark Kent/Superman on the first two episodes of Supergirl's second season, which will air Mondays in October on The CW.

Moustafa, best known for his work on High Crimes with writer Christopher Sebela, recently pitched in on DC's Doctor Fate, one of the best series of the publisher's now-defunct DC You publishing initiative.

So...shall we consider this Moustafa's pitch to draw an upcoming issue of The Adventures of Supergirl? Or perhaps to join the rotating art team on the twice-monthly Superman or Action Comics books? He seems to have a pretty good lock on the character...!

Note: This article originally mistakenly identified High Crimes writer Christopher Sebela as Masks & Mobsters writer Joshua Williamson. We sincerely apologize for the error.
