There's a really simple way to express your love for a character, and it will affect someone close to your own life forever. No, we're not talking about getting a tattoo; we're talking about naming your kid. The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, for example, is a huge Spider-Man fan, and has a son named, yes, Peter Parker Kirkman. Kevin Smith, you may have heard, is a bit of a Batman fan, and when his daughter was born, he and his wife named her Harley Quinn.

Now Harley the character, who originated on Batman: The Animated Series in the early 90s before moving to comics, video games, and other animated incarnations, is finally making it to live action and the big screen in Suicide Squad played by Margot Robbie, and Kevin and his daughter (who he brought to the premiere) are excited about the transition.

"I mean, [it's] weirder for her, I think, than me," Smith told Comicbook.com of seeing Harley Quinn hit the silver screen, referring to his daughter. "I named my kid after Harley Quinn, so all of this, the moment they announced this movie she went 'AH!' For me, it was inevitable. That character is so good, she couldn't stay in the cartoon, she wound up in the comic books. She couldn't stay in the comics, she wound up in the games. She couldn't stay in the games, now she's gonna be here."

He realizes that Harley's impact will make a difference in he and his daughter's lives, too.

"Once she's on the big screen, forget it. For years, I had a kid that people would go 'what's your kid's name?' and I'd go 'Harley,' and they'd be like, 'you ride?' No, not exactly. Now, I'm like, my kid's name is Harley, and they're like 'you like the Squad?' Yes, yes, welcome to our world!" Smith said with a grin.

Overall, he's just excited to see all of this come to fruition, and get a chance for more DC Films fun.

"Suicide Squad, man! Harley Quinn is here! Joker is back! These are good times!" Smith exclaimed. After the premiere, he tweeted to director David Ayer that it "was a beautiful, visionary, fun-ass film!" so it seems he wasn't disappointed.

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
