Children and cosplay go together about as well as Rocket Raccoon and Groot do. The pairing has become a beloved one as parents continue to find clever ways to dress up their kids for all sorts of conventions. And, unsurprisingly, it seems the cosplays only get more adorable the younger the kids are. With all that in mind, it's easy to understand why one cute cosplayer at Boston Comic-Con got lots of attention with his Baby Groot outfit.

I mean, the kid even got director James Gunn's seal of approval.

Taking to Instagram, Gunn shared a photo of the Baby Groot cosplay, jokingly that the image was the "1st still" from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Many are already cooing over the photo since it is so darn cute. Dressed in earthy tones, the baby is killing his all-natural look while his father holds him upright in a tiny plant potter.

After some digging, The Boston Globe was able to identify the cosplayer as 5-month-old Charlie Lockwood. His parents attended Boston Comic-Con to host a booth and decided to dress their son up as the beloved Marvel character for fun.

His mother, Tracie, posted about her son's sudden fame on Imgur and explained they were stationed at her "husband's booth." She went on to say, "I can assure you no comics were injured in the process. Since he can't stand, we supported most of the weight."

Seriously, wouldn't it be great if the kid's first words were, "I am Groot?" I mean, it probably won't happen, but those words would only solidify Charlie's status as the world's defacto Baby Groot cosplayer.

Sadly, Charlie isn't involved with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in any way. Most fans already know Vin Diesel is the one who voices Groot, but Gunn has said he's unsure whether Baby Groot will feature the actor's deep vocals the same way his prior self did. In fact, the director has teased Baby Groot could be totally different from his adult counterpart. GotG Vol. 2 EP Jonathan Schwartz even said Baby Groot, "doesn't have the wisdom and experience of that Groot. He's a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that's sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?"

For now, fans can expect to get answers for those questions when the film hits theaters on May 5th 2017. But, in Charlie's case, the kid might have to wait a bit longer. To be completely honest, I'm not sure he's old enough just yet to understand all the nuances of Groot's transformation.
