Since leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. six months ago, Daisy Johnson (a.k.a. Quake) has been carrying out her own vigilante missions, and it isn't just taking a toll on her emotionally. Without S.H.I.E.L.D. sharing the workload, providing her with their sophisticated technology (such as the gauntlets), and a steady supply of their bone-healing medication (Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez gives her the pills when they meet), Daisy's ability to manipulate vibrations is taking a toll on her body and is only going to get worse as the season unfolds.
"It's taking a toll on her physically and emotionally," Chloe Bennet told Entertainment Weekly. "What we're seeing this season is more physical than ever before. Pretty early on, it becomes incredibly limiting, the pain she's going through. There's a reason S.H.I.E.L.D. monitors people with powers and abilities, because they need to be. She's basically overworking herself. She's being incredibly reckless with her emotions, physically with her powers. It definitely takes a toll."
As Coulson, Mack and Fitz attempt to track down and neutralize a rogue group looking to end Inhuman Registration worldwide, Simmons and Dr. Radcliffe only have hours to save May before she succumbs forever to her mysterious illness.
The show stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, and Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie.
The guest-cast includes John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe, Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, Jason O'Mara as the Director, Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes, Mallory Jansen as Aida, Parminder Nagra as Senator Rota Nadeer, Alexander Wraith as Agent Anderson, Lorenzo James Henrie as Gabe Reyes, Patrick Cavanaugh as Burrows, Ricky Saenz as pistol punk, Devon Libran as slugger punk, Valery Ortiz as Maria, Derek Hughes as The Amazing Mertz, Preston Flagg as Darryl, Stephanie Maura Sanchez as bridesmaid #1, Jen Kuo Sung as Chen, Dale Pavinski as Briggs, Michael Cory Davis as agitator, Aaron Gaffey as mystery figure, and Adriana Diaz as hostage.
