For the last few years, "ugly Christmas sweaters" have become a geek culture staple, with dozens of websites offering the products -- usually in the form of sweatshirts with their designs meant to look like knitted sweaters -- for dozens of properties.
Merchoid, who had a handful of such non-sweater sweaters for sale last year for DC Comics properties and more, have rolled out their first holiday comics merch -- and it's an honest to God knitted sweater featuring Batman's emblem from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the forthcoming Justice League and Batman movies, along with Gotham's cityscape and the Batmobile.
"We showed you our Zelda Christmas sweater back in August, and we've now been able to reveal the official Batman Christmas Sweater. We have a lot more marvel-ous designs to show you next month," said Merchoid Community Manager Jessica Adams. "It always looks so cold and dark in Gotham City, it seems like it's always Winter. Never fear, the 'Christmas Knight' sweater will keep you warm, even if you're having Mr Freeze over for the holidays. It's 100% knitted and officially licensed too, so you won't end up a Christmas villain."
Expected to ship in late November, here's the tongue-in-cheek way Merchoid describes the garment:
After several years of research and months of tinkering, Lucius Fox has finally perfected Batman's latest outfit – the knitted Christmas sweater. Of course, gear this advanced is hard to come by, so it's strictly limited edition.
You can see numerous images of the sweater in the attached image gallery.
The unisex sweater is available in sizes small to XXL and is available to preorder from Merchoid now for £36.99/$54.99/€49,99. Merchoid includes free worldwide shipping. A number of Merchoid's best-selling designs from last year are being offered up again. You can see the collection here.
