You gotta' love Hawkeye. When it comes to the Avengers, there are few members who pull off the loveably grump facade like Clint Barton can. The master archer has been a key part of the Avengers team since the squad made their Marvel Cinematic Debut in 2012. Over the years, fans have gotten to see Hawkeye grow into a quippy character, and there is still more to come. According to Jeremy Renner, Hawkeye will see some exciting action in Avengers: Infinity War.

In a recent interview with Hey U Guys, the actor spoke about the upcoming Avengers flick and said he knows next to nothing about the blockbuster. He said, "If I knew anything, I still couldn't tell you, but I don't know anything about it. I know there's Infinity War - Avengers 3 & 4 happening. I mean, I don't know anything outside of my involvement."

The actor then joked, "I can't tell you. What if I'm dead in the first one? I don't know. I might already be dead."

However, Renner did eventually say a little bit about his part in the film and what he thinks of Hawkeye's evolving storylines. "I know they're writing it [the script], and I know the talks of what it's about sounded fantastic," he said. "There's some really great ideas, and they are following certain parts of Infinity War. It's some real exciting stuff for lots of characters, especially for what they're thinking of doing with Hawkeye."

For fans of the Hawkeye, the actor's words are pretty encouraging. The MCU continues to be stuffed with new and exciting heroes, and its expansion has made some worry that characters like Hawkeye might slip through the cracks. Avengers: Age of Ultron did what it could to differentiate Hawkeye for his team members by giving him a family, but the decision was met with mixed reviews. Hopefully, Avengers: Infinity War can smooth those fans' rumpled feathers and give Hawkeye a nesting ground for future character development.

That is, if Thanos has killed him already. Sure, it sounds like Renner was joking about his character already being offed, but the third Avengers flick will be a dangerous one. It seems unlikely that all of the team's founders will live through their confrontation with the Mad Titan, so here's to us hoping that Hawkeye's quiver watches his six.

However, there might be a few Hawkeye fans who would like to see the hero branch off from the MCU and its feature-length films. Fans have recently started to rally behind the idea of a Netflix series centered around the master archer. Renner even commented on the idea during a recent interview with IGN where he said he would be interested in a standalone series.

"I don't know the practicality of that, but I always love, any of these characters that I play, I love to dig into them more," Renner explained. "I never feel like I get enough time with any of the characters I play, and that's one of them."

But, when it comes to a solo Hawkeye film, the actor doesn't seem so optimistic. Renner has previously told Yahoo that he does not think a standalone movie will happen.
