Next month, Lucasfilm will be rolling out a new Star Wars film in time for the holidays. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will charge into theaters as the franchise's first spin-off, and it will follow a group of Rebels who are on a mission to steal plans of the Empire's Death Star. To celebrate the upcoming release, Lucasfilm is moving ahead with promotions, and two new TV spots for the film have just been released.

The twelfth spot is a heart-wrenching one that taps into fans' emotions. The footage shows Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) be separated from her fathers as child before being questioned about their relationship. The Rebellion informs her that her father is being used to create a weapon with "the power to destroy planets," and Jyn becomes determined to save him.

The thirteenth spot is an international one which comes to us courtesy of Japan. The clip is focused on K-2SO, an Imperial security robot who joins the Rebellion after being reprogrammed. The lovably blunt sidekick can be heard droning on to Jyn Erso, but Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) assures her the robot means well.

If you have plans to see Rogue One in theaters, then you can plan ahead and buy your tickets beforehand. The film's ticket sales will begin on Monday, November 28.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters December 16, 2016. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue Onetells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
