While the Guardians of the Galaxy went through a few roster changes in their second film, one character – Kraglin (Sean Gunn) – isn’t exactly a bonafide member yet.

James Gunn, the film’s writer and director, was recently asked about the subject during a Facebook Live Q&A. And as he revealed, Kraglin is more of an unofficial member of the team, following the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
“I would not say that Kraglin is an official member of the Guardians.” Gunn explained. “I’d say Kraglin is now working with the Guardians of the Galaxy. At this point, he’s sort of like their chauffeur. I don’t know if you would exactly call him an official member.”
Many will remember that Kraglin had a significantly expanded role in Vol. 2, helping Yondu (Michael Rooker), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) reunite with the Guardians and take on Ego the Living Planet. He also received Yondu’s magical yaka arrow at the end of the film, leading some to believe that he would use it to help the team in future Marvel Cinematic Universe endeavors. While that might be true, it sounds like Kraglin will do so in an unofficial capacity for now.
Even Sean Gunn, who also does the motion-capture performance for Rocket, is unsure where Kraglin’s arc will go in upcoming films.
“I don’t really know what’s going to happen with Kraglin,” he revealed in a recent interview with ComicBook.com. “I know where he is at the end of the movie, just like you do, which is that he’s working on making that arrow fly. But who knows where that will end up. I have no idea, really.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now available on Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-Ray.
