It's always fun when different characters from different worlds collide, and it looks like characters from popular anime Yuri!!! on Ice are taking a break from skating, and spending some time with Steven Universe. Cartoon Network's series Steven Universe has grown a big fan base, and the show has spun off it's own comics. In Steven Universe #4, there is a Renaissance Faire in the city where Steven Universe takes place, Beach City, and Yuri and friends make cameo appearances. Yuri, Victor, Yuri Plisetsky, and Atabek Alitin are all seen making cameo appearances in the comic, and ANN asked the illustrator behind the Steven Universe comic about it.

Yuri On Ice

Katy Farina is the illustrator behind the Steven Universe comic is a big Yuri fan, and often puts in cameos to see if people notice. "I just like YoI - the characters are great! Sometimes drawing backgrounds isn't the most compelling, so I tend to add cameos. It makes it fun for me to draw, and it's a cute little Easter egg for the people reading," Farina commented.

In fact, Farina has a deeper connection to Yuri!!! on Ice, and said that the anime was one of her inspirations. "When it was airing I was feeling so discouraged and unmotivated. Watching Yuri work hard and learn to find confidence in himself inspired me to do the same. I think a lot of people can relate to that," she stated in an interview. "Victor and Yuri's relationship also - watching that develop and the nuance of their dynamic is really compelling. Yūri is definitely my fave though! Whenever I'm feeling like I can't do something I think back to the series and his journey."
