On the same day that Grant Morrison's Action Comics finale hit comic book store shelves, DC Comics has announced that Andy Diggle, who will take over from Morrison next month, is already leaving the title and will be replaced as writer by artist Tony Daniel for the remainder of the pair's planned first arc. "Sadly, I've decided to walk away from Action Comics for professional reasons," tweeted Diggle. "It was the toughest decision I've ever had to make, especially with Superman's 75th anniversary and Man of Steel on the horizon. But it was the right decision. No regrets. Onwards! Sincere thanks to Matt Idelson for inviting me to follow Grant Morrison on Action Comics. I hope we still get to work together someday. Thank you to all the fans who've expressed their enthusiasm in anticipation of my run. I wish nothing but the best of luck to whichever new creative team picks up the red boots and cape." The writer, whose best-selling Green Arrow: Year One got a spotlight on the DC blog today, went on to note that he's still got a pretty full plate, with Doctor Who, Uncanny, Thief of Thieves and Snapshot. Diggle has been making the press rounds, along with the rest of the Superman writers, as part of the aforementioned Superman-at-75 push, which includes not only Superman Unbound and Man of Steel, but a concentrated effort to promote the character in the comics as well. Diggle's work is solicited through at least Action Comics #21, although it's unclear whether he'll actually be on the title that long or whether Daniel will take over ahead of that issue's release.
