Batman Family Character Dies

Earlier this year, DC Comics killed off Robin in a well-publicized event comic book. Pretty much everyone knew in advance that Robin was going to die in Batman Incorporated #8. Now, DC Comics has killed off another major Batman family character, except this time it wasn't announced in the press in advance. While we imagine the exact character's name will be all over the press later today as the comic has started to him comic book stores, we wanted to allow some space for a spoiler warning for those that don't want to know. Of course, we also wanted to report on the news, so that people who do want to know will know what comic book they need to pick up today. The spoiler is in relation to Justice League Of America #4, so if you were already planning to buy that comic, then stop reading now. However, if you weren't planning to pick up that issue, then you might want to reconsider, and here's why. It's been well-publicized that Justice League Of America #4 was going to have a shocker. In fact, the solicitation for Justice League Of America #5 uses the teaser text, "Reeling from the traumatic death following issue #4's cliffhanger, the 'world's most dangerous team' discovers what the Secret Society is ultimately after—and who they are." Of course, the expectation was that DC Comics would probably kill off one of the Justice League Of America characters who isn't very well-known among the general public. However, DC Comics didn't take the easy way out, and they actually delivered a major character death that will have repercussions throughout the DC Comics universe. In the closing pages of Justice League Of America #4, Catwoman gets shot in the head at point-blank range. The bullet is shown leaving the gun, and blood is shown splattering out the other side of Catwoman's head. Catwoman's lifeless body is also shown on the ground with her lifeless eyes wide open and blood dripping from her head. As far as comic book deaths go, this is one of the most definitive ones that we've ever seen. Of course, there always seems to be a way in comic books to write someone back to life, but with this particular death, it's going to be challenging at least to explain how Catwoman survives (if she does indeed survive).
