Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith has confirmed, via her Facebook page, that she will be appearing in Gotham. She also revealed that she had signed on for a year, which might be a hint that there's a finite storyline for her character.

Pinkett-Smith posted this update:

Last night, I decided to accept the role of Fish Mooney, who is the sadistic villain in thee upcoming Batman prequel, Gotham, for Fox TV. I've committed to a year to work alongside a very talented cast, a super cool, creative and talented head writer and an extraordinary director. This one...is going to be funnnnnn!

Stay tuned:)

Pinkett-Smith’s character, Fish Mooney, is Gotham’s crime boss and The Penguin’s employer. She is sadistic, hot-headed, and possesses and extra-sensory ability to read people like they’re an open book.

Pinkett Smith joins a cast that includes Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth and Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot.

The pilot is currently in development and already has a series commitment from Fox after an intense network bidding war.
