In a new interview with TVLineArrow star Stephen Amell describes the season's various dangling plot threads as a lot of balls in the air--which he suggests are likely to all drop at once. That includes the League of Assassins, Deathstroke and Brother Blood, the ever-broadening Arrow family, the Suicide Squad, Malcolm Merlyn and "stuff happening in Russia" that probably ties to the character known in the comics as The KGBeast. And doesn't even touch on the Birds of Prey. "I'm hearing that we want to rent out a block [of the city]" for the finale, the actor said., "I'm hearing that the scale and the amount of people involved is something that we haven't yet seen on the show. This season has been incredibly expansive, you know? We have an episode coming up that's just Diggle, titled 'The Suicide Squad,' so we have a dynamic between a group that we haven't even seen. We've taken the Arrowcave from three people to five. We've had stuff happening in Russia. We have Malcolm Merlyn. We have the League of Assassins. We have so many things – including, of course, Slade and Brother Blood. There are so many things up in the air, and I think they're all going to land at once — and on opposite sides." Following last year's finale, which shattered Starling City with an "earthquake machine" and featured the death of a member of the principal cast, it seems that Arrow's producers have decided that the only way to go bigger is to actually go bigger and broader, with more moving pieces, more chaos and longer odds against Oliver and Team Arrow.
