According to Cinelinx, Disney is casting for as-of-yet unannounced Star Wars television specials and a miniseries. According to the website's sources, the Star Wars related casting that Disney has been doing has not been limited to roles in Star Wars Episode VII, but include roles in these unannounced televisions projects, including "specials and miniseries." There has been no word yet on what these projects would be about, but a document leaked from a brand licensing conference last year had "Darth Vader Themed TV Specials" listed as an upcoming project for Spring/Summer 2014. No further information about those specials has been released. Of course, things change, and the document in question doesn't mention anything about a miniseries. There have been rumblings about a live action Star Wars show for a long time now, so maybe something has finally come out of those initial rumors. Last year, the president at ABC even said that the network planned to discuss a Star Wars live action show with Disney, so maybe something came out of those meetings. Or, maybe Disney has just decided to start something new, perhaps similar to the plans they have for Marvel on Netflix. The Clone Wars did just make it onto Netflix streaming, making it the first Star Wars property to ever be made available on Netflix. Maybe this relationship will grow further in the future. The next Star Wars television series will an animated one, Star Wars Rebels, telling the story of how the Rebel Alliance first formed. The series will come to Disney XD this Fall.
