By now, most of the Internet has seen the photo of Kevin Smith shedding tears of joy after visiting the set of Star Wars Episode VII. However, it turns out that Kevin Smith's special day might have been a big mistake.

In his Hollywood Babble-On podcast, Smith detailed exactly how the set visit came about. Smith said, "I got an email…this is going back a month ago…an email from a dude who is like, 'Hey Kev, we haven't talked in a while, but I've been thinking about you. We just started shooting in the desert, man. We're heading over to London. If you're going to be in London, blow me up and roll up on the set, man.' Signed J.J. Abrams."

Smith quickly emailed Abrams back, "I am going to be in f***ing England. I'm coming over to do some shows with my friend Ralph, and bla, bla, bla."

Abrams responded, "Oh my god, great. Then, you've got to come stop by the set."

Then, Smith started wondering about how easy the whole thing had transpired, considering that he actually doesn't know J.J. Abrams that well. Smith started second-guessing the invite, so he wrote Abrams back saying, "I just checked in with your office, so I'm all set to visit, but just in case, I want to put this out there, in case maybe you hit the wrong Kevin in your address book. I said, 'This is Kevin Smith, the Clerks guy.'"

Abrams immediately wrote back a two word response, "Oh, f**k!"

Whether or not J.J. Abrams really meant to invite Kevin Smith and was just kidding in his response is unknown, but Smith wound up getting his set visit regardless. And just to make sure that Smith didn't reveal any secrets, Lucasfilm was sure to get Smith to sign a NDA.
