Given its profile, its pedigree and its ratings, this is probably no surprise, but the Internet has risen up as a collective whole this afternoon to report that Guillermo del Toro's The Strain has been renewed for a second season on FX.

Ant-Man villain Corey Stoll, who plays the series lead, will likely have quite a bit to shoot around, but given the fact that most of Marvel's villains don't last beyond a single film, it's probably manageable.

FX's John Landgraf has been very bullish on the series, first refusing to release next-day ratings as they weren't representative of the overall reach of the show (it averages around 3-5 million on its airdate and 11 million total viewers, if estimates are to be believed) and then strongly hinting at the TCAs last month that the series (then only two or three episodes in) would be renewed.
