According to The Daily Telegraph, Warner Bros.' upcoming Aquaman feature film is headed to Australia and pre-production will begin "before Christmas."

While no official announcement has been made yet, it is assumed filming will take place at the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast in Queensland. That's because the studio boasts the largest purpose built film water tank in the country. Plus, Village Roadshow Pictures and Warner Bros. Entertainment have a longstanding film production partnership.

However, since filming will take place Down Under, there will be some extra-drama. Just last year, Amber Heard and her then husband, Johnny Depp, caused an international ruckus when they breached Australia's very strict biosecurity laws by not declaring Pistol and Boo, their two Yorkshire terriers. The pair later appeared in a bizarre video, offering a half-hearted apology to the Australian government. In the end, "Heard was placed on a one-month good behaviour bond and paid a fine of $1000 for producing a false document."

"When contacted yesterday, the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection would not comment on whether or not Heard's history would impact her visa application," reports The Daily Telegraph.

An icon for over 70 years, Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas. This reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, is committed to protecting the entire globe.

The film is based on characters appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment and will star Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as the sea-dwelling superhero, Amber Heard (Machete Kills) as Mera, and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Atlantean politician Vulko.

It's being directed by James Wan (Furious Seven, The Conjuring), written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad), and produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder.

Aquaman swims into theaters July 27, 2018.
