It's hard being a damsel in distress. It's also probably annoying as hell. Who wants to have their fate in the hands of someone else when you should be able to take control of your own damn life?
Candice Patton seems to agree, and hopefully one of the few non-powered characters on The CW's The Flash will get her chance to do just that when Savitar comes to enact his role in Iris West's prophetic death.
While speaking with TV Insider about Iris' fate on the show, Patton admitted that even she didn't have a clue.
"They [the producers] didn't tell me," Patton said. "I have no idea and it's a little alarming. I think I know, but you never really know. I am just in the dark as the audience so it will be really interesting to see if Team Flash can pull it off. I'm hoping they can, because I need a job."

Patton said that she enjoys the character's direction since learning her fate, even with Team Flash's ill-fated attempts to change it.
"They did a really great job this year of giving Iris so many levels, she's genuinely in fear for her life...and we've also seen her being kind of reckless about her future knowing that, if she's not going to die until May, she's can't die today."
She finished by saying that she wants the character to truly take charge of her own destiny, and hopes it's in the cards.
"Hopefully, we'll see a version of Iris who gets the strength to be part of saving her own life, to be a part of the narrative that ensures her safety," She said. "How cool would that be? She is a very capable woman, so how great would it be for a character like Iris, who has no superpowers, to be part of her own destiny?"
Very cool indeed.
The next episode of the Flash, "Into The Speed Force," airs tonight.
