Adrian Chase AKA Prometheus' impact on Team Arrow has taken its toll on every member as he wages a war against the group, but it might have the unintended consequence of bringing two characters back together.
In the wake of the ally-masquerading-as-villain killed Felicity Smoak's boyfriend Billy, Arrow's tech genius has taken a decidedly dark path, beginning with her quest to exonerate imprisoned ally John Diggle.
That specific goal brought her into contact with a mysterious hacker group going by Helix, which has in turn lead her to make more increasingly dubious decisions.
While speaking with EW about Emily Bett Rickard's new trajectory and what it means for her character's relationship with the rest of Team Arrow, executive producer Marc Guggenheim said the plan is to "put her in Oliver's footsteps a bit."
"She's going to get a chance to experience things a little bit more from Oliver's perspective," Guggenheim added. "I think the reason they broke up was her difficulty to see things from Oliver's perspective. They broke up fundamentally because she didn't trust Oliver, and the reason she didn't trust Oliver is she couldn't understand why he made the decisions he made."
This new perspective could go a few different ways, especially since her outlook on life and the mission is what drew Oliver to her at the beginning. She was a bit of light in his dark and bleak life, especially being that he was constantly surrounded by tragedy.
Felicty faced her own tragic moments, but none of that defined her, and she was able to move past it. Until Prometheus killed Billy, that is.
But now that they're on somewhat of a parallel path, maybe they can once again find romance on common ground. We'll see as Arrow heads into its endgame, especially as Chase's treachery has been revealed.
The next episode, "Disbanded," airs March 22.
