'Wonder Woman' Crowned Tumblr's Most Popular Movie of 2017

Wonder Woman took the world by storm when it debuted earlier this year, and it even made a major impact on Tumblr.

The micro-blogging platform recently unveiled their 2017 Fandometrics list, which tracks the pieces of content most posted-about amongst Tumblr users. Wonder Woman earned the top spot on Tumblr's "2017's Top Movies" list, something that probably won't surprise those who frequent the website.

While Wonder Woman might hold the #1 spot, a slew of other superhero movies made the list as well. Wonder Woman's other DC Extended Universe venture this year, Justice League, landed at #14 on the list.

Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy earned the 10th and 11th spots, with fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe films Thor: Ragnarok, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and even next year's Avengers: Infinity War all cracked the top twenty. 20th Century Fox's Marvel films made their way onto the list as well, with Logan landing at #12 and last year's Deadpool landing at #16.

This isn't the first accolade that those involved with Wonder Woman have won - and it's pretty safe to assume that it won't be the last. The film was certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes upon its release, and was deemed the top summer blockbuster by Twitter a few months later.

Most recently, the film's director and star, Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot, were awarded with a Spotlight Award by the National Board of Review. And earlier today, Jenkins was listed on the shortlist for Time Magazine's highly-coveted 'Person of the Year' award. The film is also being submitted for a ground-breaking Academy Awards campaign, which would probably give Tumblr a lot more reason to talk about Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman is now available on Blu-Ray/DVD and digital. Wonder Woman 2 is set to be released on November 1st, 2019.
