Earlier today, we broke the news that Activision would be pairing up with Dark Horse Comics to produce a new "developer bible" for Crash Bandicoot, called The Crash Bandicoot Files: How Willy the Wombat Sparked Marsupial Mania, set to be released next March. Featuring over 150 pages, the book promises to cover everything there is to know about the now-returned mascot.

But it appears that's just one of the surprises that the team at Vicarious Visions had for the fans. During the Crash Bandicoot: Then and Now panel that took place earlier today, the team also confirmed the first piece of DLC that would be available for the game – and while it isn't quite the Crash Team Racing add-on we wanted, it's the next best thing. And it's a long-lost level!

A stage called Stormy Ascent from the original Crash Bandicoot was designed by the team at Naughty Dog, but for some reason it wasn't included in the final game. That said, Vicarious Visions took it upon themselves to not only remaster the level, but include it in their game as well. And, starting today, players can download it and play it along with the other levels in the game!

Stormy Ascent is being offered completely free of charge over the next 30 days on the PlayStation Store. After that, it'll go back up to its normal price of $2.99. Still, that's a small price to pay for a long lost piece of gaming history – but obviously, free is better.

The level will be immediately playable upon start-up of the game once you download it, so it's a good opportunity to jump in and see the long lost level that never made it in. As far as why it didn't make it in, Naughty Dog didn't really elaborate – but we're just really happy to see it.

Oh, and a dude in a Crash Bandicoot costume totally showed up. Because of course he did. Check out the full rundown of Crash's San Diego Comic-Con adventures here.

Finally, Activision announced the release of a new app called CrashMoji, which enables fans to download stickers and emojis to use in their photos to send to others. It's free, and available now on iOS and Android.
